7 Take chartered accountant inside to procure English bun (7) TEACAKE {TEA{CA}K*}{E}
ReplyDeleteT{E}A{CA}KE
I think Col's anno is correct if chartered is anagrind. This way it does not work
DeleteCA: Chartered accountant
DeleteI mean double insertion is a bit convoluted
DeleteRight!
DeleteCol,
ReplyDeleteThe tagline needs to be changed as bitter cake. There are many clues jumbled up today.
The clues of 11A & 23A have been interchanged;
ReplyDelete11A- Such trading can be viewed as dire sin
23A- Fancy research animal kept by asians took off at the end
23A- I had 'Research animal' as rat. Beyond that...
9 Narrated flawless eclogue (5) IDYLL ~ ideal.
ReplyDeleteIdyll (īd′l) does not sound at all like Ideal (ī-dē′əl, ī-dēl′). Just a bit like Idle.
You are right
DeleteLooks like the Clues got jumbled up while doing a copy paste
ReplyDelete...or is it 'research' for lab & animal for rat? That leaves EOE- Errors & Omissions Excepted!
ReplyDeleteactually silly me.. i didnt even notice the full clue for elaborate.. i mean the answer was so obvious i dont think i read the rest of the clue :( lesson to me ! online version does not have any jumble ups .. tho the elaborate clue still doesnt fit very well even with Asians :) is aspartame orre the hungry? esp for sweet stuff ?? :) reminds me of my "vain" search for a kind of jelly/pudding yesterday :)
ReplyDeleteSeen on NDTV
ReplyDelete'EATRY LEAVES FOOD FOR HUNGARY'
Should have been +E and - A
ReplyDelete...in CW terms! Maybe we should ask NDTV to write a clue to decipher their headlines.
ReplyDeleteDid the puzzle late..didnt notice any jumbling in on line edition..elaborate=fancy was new to me..cheated on ashure but rest of the sweets were tasty
