  1. We are having Vulcanised puzzles! Yesterday was Vulcan in Guardian and today here.
14D: Thought even without Anind the instruction was clear: get this from the letters of Can+ge(-t)+even

  4. Tuesday blues for commenters here?

  5. Vasant: Tuesday greys in CBE here ! Rainy, windy and dark ! Welcome though some civil work in my home is being delayed-- easy excuse for the workers not to turn up !

Don't you think Vulcan's clues are excellent? One can solve instinctlively then look for annotations !
ARROYO and OBLIETTE are new words for me . This is why I love cryptic crosswords. Each day brings with it new thinking. I particularly liked CONUNDRUM - dum-di-dum ! In VARANASI, use of exotic as anind is unique. Isn't 1 down pithy and cute wordplay?

Theme of four cities ? Bhargav could have included all the four.

Vulcan's puzzle lifted me out of my Tuesday blues and disappointments .

  7. Raju,
Divert spme rains over to Chennai. We are starved and thirsty and dreading the next few months- water scarcity (one more city) looms large.

  8. Raju, Paddy: Coincidently I am travelling to Varanasi.

  9. Paddy: We don't even have hopes from the newly appointed Cauvery Water Board ! It is ridiculous that neighbouring states are fighting within one country. Water harvesting and conservatioon is the only solution. But alas, where are our priorities ?

Vasant: Have a good sojourn in Benares. God bless you .

    2. No points on that account.
      Thanks Paddy.
Back here after a year and half. The changes are visible. A lot cleaner. The ghats are looking sparkling. Roads getting constructed. Flyovers coming up. Electricity now almost 24 hrs.
