  2. Happy anniversary.
In recent months, we have missed the toons by Kishore, Col, CGB and Chaturvasi.
New colour scheme introduced by RameshJ has been a welcome feature.

  7. A fitting and interesting CW for the anniversary.

  8. Thank you everyone, the same applies equally to all of you, without your participation the blog would have wound up long ago

  9. This is addressed to all the ladies here. How on earth do you'll manage to walk on things like 8D? Don't your feet pain?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If I may answer on behalf of those ladies...
      For
The high heels make them look taller and stylish, the shoe removes the 'mami' look that they may have, it makes their foot look longer than it really is, their gait may look more seductive than before...
      Against
There may be problems ('pain' to use the Col's term) with feet and knees. The wearer's niece may look at them zealously or jealously.
      Important 'for'
They can jab their molester with the sharp stilettos.

    2. It is something I look with plain horror and disbelief because even flat soles make me walk with utmost care! In teens I wore heels with flat soles mainly because I am a little on the shorter side. After conceiving my first child I stopped wearing them on reading some adverse info about them. Till today I am wary of them. I watch wearing this type of heels with utmost awe. I strongly feel it is some of quixotic idea of fashion! CV's idea of its usefulness for defence is good, but a lady has so many other handy weapons with her in emergency, doesn't she? Gandhi's advice of using teeth and nail?

  17. Happy B'day to the blog! I am a regular reader of the blog (always come here after solving, or rather, attempting to solve, the daily crossword); but a very rare contributor. However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Col. and other posters for creating a wonderful forum for budding solvers (like me) and setters to learn and develop their crossword skills! Awesome job!

  20. Congrats Colonel. I love the warm, welcoming atmosphere of THCC - it shows in the way contributors refer it as "our blog". Kudos to you for creating this platform. Here's wishing more success and prosperity to THCC with each anniversary!

  22. CONGRATS Col for creating this wonderful blog. I haven't seen one as active as this; MANY MANY Happy snruter of this day !!( Shuchi's is not daily but seasonal- so Shuchi, take heart. Yours is unique in its own way.) and lets all not forget the THCC family gatherings in various places, though I'm yet to attend one of them

One suggestion on this birthday, Col; Can you make it interactive for online solving like our Sunday Specials by using Across Life? Though the THCC online service by that anonymous good soul does help, many a times it is delayed in posting and occasionally with the grid going awry ! It will be a boon for folks like me !

  23. Congratulations, Col! We get The Hindu in Mumbai now. So I'm back here!! It's so much easier to solve on paper than online!
