Luckily it was not xChequer who will now appear tomorrow if it's not a holiday

    2. Great going! To solve a puzzle under trying conditions with different devices in different locations and yet keep the schedule - wonderful commitment. I admire it.

  4. SOS , HELP!!

Am in Bombay ( we can call it POMPEI , given the ruinous state - a dying city !) right now; to board a flight to NY by 0330 hrs tomorrow. Yesterday, before going for lunch, I tried to open ICL, but while logging, though I had my password number alloted this year in good time, the SMS from the organizers has got gobbled up in cyberspace. Repeated attempts for a resend have not been responded to. Meanwhile, I opened up the Home page and found the puzzle and am doing cold solving. I am not competing but only desirous of compeleting. Can some one tell me the way forward? Thanks and good luck to all participants and may the best win !

    2. Thanks, KKR, but where have you posted? to my email ? I give the email ID: sapraj2711@gmail.com , please !

SRIVIDYA: Sorry to hear about your stomach-bug. Hope and pray that you are rid of it soon.

I have also been baffled about the ICL web site. I managed to open their Home page and as though to mock at me, the open grid stares at me, without being able to fill in as I had lost my password and requests made repaeatedly are unanswered. Waiting for Col's response as he is one of the organizers ! Good luck to you in reaching the site and the subsequet successful solving.

10A, is there an extra s ? Boys + nicest = obscenity*, one s left over

    2. Can't help you there as I am unable to access it myself. I think they are carrying out maintenance to remove the scrapped CW of yesterday

    3. What was the fiasco all about? Any details to be shared /

    4. hi.. Colonel but the IXL to play website seems to be working.. which means that the grid which was supposed to be scrapped is still up and people can still work on it. This is very weird.. if it was to be scrapped shouldnt the grid be first scrapped rather than the home website?

    5. There was a mistake in the clue for 10A as it led to the same answer as 15A, due to which the entire CW had to be scrapped

    6. Srividya, where is it? I couldn't find it

    7. I don't understand how 15A leads to 10A! 15 AC is perfectly drawn in my view. 10AC is the one which I filled at last, although it was not a convincing one.
But both the answers are not same, I think.

    8. KKR the clue shown against 10A is incorrect. The answer which you get from the clue is not what should have been there. If you put in REPERTOIRE at 10A it will not match wit the Down clues that cross it

    9. http://serorg.cloudapp.net/ixl16/default.aspx - here is the link DG sir

    10. Yes, 10AC with the available crossings, will lead to PILLAR-E-D. The clue has pier in it, which came to my mind.

    11. DG sir ..has it been confirmed that the round is scrapped? which means best of 9.. not 10??

  9. Colonel, what were the results of the CSOI general round yesterday ( top 3). Couldn't stay back till the results were announced because of the timing of the First round of IXL.

  13. I don't understand one point. Why the entire episode should be scrapped just because of 10AC? The evaluation could still be completed ignoring this clue altogether or taking it correct whatever one has filled in.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with you. That would have been a just and an easy way out. Like awarding marks for a wrong question in an exam.

    ReplyDelete

    1. because of the fact that timing is a crucial part .. some people submitted it earlier with either 10a not filled in or arbitrarily filled in..now some people agonized over 10a and did not submit knowing from past experience that getting all right is more important in IXL than submitting with one wrong earlier :)

    2. Yes, I get your point. Time is a major factor here.

  15. Here is the flash from the IXL website:
IXL round 1 has been scrapped! Fresh first weekly round would start on September 18 2016.
The organization regrets the inconvenience caused to the participants.
Get ready folks for 18th Sept! Goodluck!!!

    1. How do you get flash? How do you get communication from adminstrators of IXL..e.g. you said yesterday that the puzzle would be up at 12.30..
