It is rumoured that Bill Gates has an underground bunker in his private estate XANADU 2.0 (and in every other home he owns) into which he and his family can seek shelter in case of a nuclear INFERNO or an asteroid strike. The recent book “The CHRONICLES of the World’s Richest Men” by Joanna ISRAEL, gives a detailed account of such impenetrable ISLETS built to last through the doomsday. The author ASSERTS that she has actually been inside one of those Gates’ SANCTA of safety.

Seen from AFAR, one cannot have any inkling that such a sprawling luxurious home would be 10 metres below the innocuous lawn. There is nothing that is LACKING in the stores that can hold supplies for a full year. The place is RINSEd in (simulated) “natural” light during the day that TONES DOWN according to the season outside. The haven has its own power plant and water supply system in case there is a COMPROMISE of the grid.  The NERVE centre of the house is a state-of-art web connected office. There is enough room to hold a FIESTA, although it is only Bill, Melinda and their 3 children who would attend it.  The pictures ALONGSIDE the SUMMARIES of the salient features of the house that Joann Israel provides are ample proof that this home would win the RACE for the safest hideout hands down.

Notwithstanding all this, in a TED talk of 2015 Bill Gates says with his characteristic nasal TWANG, “we have to prepare not for missiles but for microbes. If 10 million people are killed it is likely to be a highly infectious viral CONTAGION that might strike the EARTH in the next 5 years than a nuclear war. The global wealth might get DEDUCTed by 300 trillion dollars in case of a pandemic. I wish to see the NEXUSES that make such a possibility likely, be undone by the leaders of nations. We need not stash cans of spaghetti or go down to the basement. We just have to have the NERVE to build the systems to stop the virus in its tracks”.  That speaks highly of the IDEALS of this man who has become more known for his charity than his wealth.
