  3. Great grid. Thanks Arden Sir!

25AC Couldn't agree on FA for nothing. It is "sweet FA". Mere FA can only mean FANNY ADAMS but not NOTHING.

    1. KKR following is from Chambers

sweet Fanny Adams, Fanny Adams and sweet FA noun, slang nothing at all. Sometimes shortened to FA.

    2. Following is the quote from Chambers Dictionary with me: FA is abbreviated for Fanny Adams:

      Fanny Adams /fanˈi adˈəmz/ (slang)
      noun
      Tinned mutton

ORIGIN: The name of a girl murdered and cut up in 1867
sweet Fanny Adams or sweet FA (slang)

      Nothing at all

    3. +1 imho, the usage should be limited to "nothing at all". FA is a very specific and also obscure usage as it is.

    4. FA for Nothing is accepted and has been used a number of times in THC as well.

    5. KKR, what is the difference between 'nothing' and 'nothing at all'

    6. Col, It is not with the difference between 'nothing' and 'nothing at all'.
      Whether FA could mean NOTHING.
In my view, nothing=fanny adams=FA, is a stretch.
If it appeared several times in THC is ok but I would never have got it.

    7. It appeared as recently as 9th June, 2020: THC 12957:
Gun supports, nothing to secure (6) FA+STEN.

    1. 26A How is free an anagram indicator?
    2. 1D How does Fore mean warning? I know Forewarning, but couldn't find dictionary meaning which says fore is warning.

Would be great if any of you can answer these for me.
