DeleteAlmost every culture describes yugadi as the cusp of the two ayana's (much like yin and yan)
But why are they celebrated in different months is a journey rich in history
This is based on our detailed calendars and the gap between the Lunar and Solar calendars that is adjusted differently by different cultures.
DeleteThere are elaborate explanations for this.
Ugadi is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu month of Chaitra (March–April) following the South Indian Amavasyant calendar, in which months end on the day of the new moon.
ReplyDeleteAs opposed to the Tamil Lunisolar calendar which measures days and months differently.
SPARROWHAWK (~harrow's pork)
ReplyDeleteWow, how do Brits pronounce "hawk" and "pork" if they sound alike?
