    1. Ping (before the days of computer) was a constant shrill sound, which can be stretched to a chant. I parsed it the same way as in the blog

    2. 'ping' is a a short high-pitched resonant sound. Don't know how chant' fits.

Since there is no label of the location, may we presume you are back home?

    2. Yes I am back home. Was feeling sleepy while blogging maybe that's why there are errors.

  6. Never knew Tempo was an Auto Company! Always associated with a type of vehicle.

  7. The grid chosen for this puzzle is obviously the same as one that is used regularly in THC.
Then why do I mention it?
    Thereby hangs a tale.
In 2001 when I started setting puzzles for TH, I prepared six original grids. The first of them has words of 10 letters and fewer. second 11, ...sixth 15 and fewer.
    This is No. 2.
These I used in strict cyclic order for puzzles over several years. Recently I have shuffled occasionally and I may have used other grids as well
But never taken from published crosswords in books or the Net or from libraries in software.
Let me hasten to add that there is no copyright for grids. I am only flattered that my original grid is used.
It is quite possible for someone else to design the same grid independently. So no complaint, no argument, no quarrel
