    1. Not really. Cycling is not jumbling here. It is just moving the letters around without changing the sequence. Like you put down prints in a circular form and start reading from S instead of P.

    2. I think that is acceptable

    3. Oh! Ramki already answered that

  3. Found the woman philosopher of Alexandria quite tough. Missed COUPON, NOVENA, CARYATID, SPRINT. Liked the neat surfaces and varied wordplay in the rest

  4. 2D
    copies = prints
    cycling -> take last letter to front to get SPRINT = race
    if you take cycling as anagram ind, it would be an indirect anagram

    1. Perfectly spotted Ramki. It’s a clue type often seen in UK crosswords. Gridman has used it occasionally in the THC too.

    1. Thanks Prasanna Rao. Glad you enjoyed those clues, OPOS has become quite popular amongst health conscious consumers. Wanted to go for a newer wordplay option when I spotted that possibility.

  10. OPOS in 5D stumped me, as did COMPACT, PHASEOUT and CARYATID. The other clues were fun to solve. Thanks, Hypatia!

  11. After a hectic day at work, curled up with this. Could get only Alleged, Suffrage, Deputise in Across clue and Abashed, Refuse and Elongate in down clues. Slowly, the grid unravelled with some fantastic clues. Loved the cleverly hidden For a Song. The Harry Potter clue of Squirrel, the two RAs, prised out Barn Door from the Spoonerism than from the definition, had to Google for the outstanding lady and biffed proposal (never knew the healthy way of cooking).
    Thanks for the challenge, Hypatia.
