ReplyDeleteThanks for the special KKR
ReplyDeleteThanks, KKR garu. Somehow, tho I wS keen to do this grid of yours, couldn’t manage to open either the Acrosslite or the one you were kind enough to send me by mail in my IPad. Sought solace and Col comfort by doing some cold solving in this chilly weather here in Tokyo. Enjoyed reading others’s solving and comments. The iPad opens in Acrosslite the crossies sent by Vasant and converted into Acrosslite by his son. So nice of both of them. Thanks to all of you for making me miss less of of my daily dose God bless.
ReplyDeleteSorry, it was Mukund garu’s son. Cold comfort and not Col. I was using the touchpad with a stylus.
ReplyDeleteI completed a cSorryryptic crossword book of 80 puzzles, published in 1976 and the first one was coincidently filled by me on 7th Dec, 1979 and the last one now today, 0th Dec, 2019! Those crosswords very challenging but clean with ccs dcs, charades and anagrams, without the trappings of deletions and additions as innovated by our THC compilers. There were many unusual idioms and phrases. The enriched one’s vocabulary. Very satisfying.
The Japanese milieu is one of total orderliness and discipline. As one can see, there are lots of senior citizens , male and female, stoically pedalling way on their bikes on the given side walks. No hustle bustle. So can one see domesticated but modern young mothers, carrying their babies strapped to their chests , with an older one on the pillion bucket seat, plus their shopping hamper tied to the handlebar of their special bikes, waiting patiently for the lights to go green, even if there is no car on the road. Ritzy cars zipping past on the highways at the permitted speed , pollution free. There is always a gap of at least two cars distance between each other. No bumper to bumper proximity. Ants use have learnt their discipline of going at a steady pace from the Japanese folks .The toilets are squeaky clean with all amenities and conveniences for mothers. Their signage and street lights are automatic and functional. The roads are pot holes free and smooth like a baby’s bottom all through our ride to Mt. Fuji .The multiple lanes traffic is noiseless . The Mt Fuji was embraced by a circular skyline on meander g path, shying away from sight now like a cry bride now and then reappearing on on other side like a resplendent bride. God’s own country of brave souls, where a resilient people have built a modern society blend with tradition.
More on my experiences over the next 5 weeks here as we go along.
Col. Please publish in the latest . Thanks. My timings are way ahead .
