9a Error in clue?
DeleteYes there is a typo. It should be CAST and not CAT. Accordingly annotation given by Badri is incorrect
DeletePrasad, Where is the error in the clue?
DeleteI think the setter meant Cat Iron, the American singer. There is no error, in my opinion.
DeleteBut Badri's annotation is not right, any way.

Correct annotations for 9A and 8D to be given
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete8D ennead is set of nine, made up of end ie finally (and inside nea which is almost close)
ReplyDeleteArden clues always great.
ReplyDelete10A 3D 6D stood out!
9 across. Why can't Cat Iron be CI and act within C and I for cacti?
ReplyDeleteI used CI to indicate Cast Iron, just like we use MS, SS and GI to indicate Mild steel, Stainless
ReplyDeletesteel and Galvanised Iron respectively. This is an accepted abbreviation in engineering parlance.
please scroll up for the correct annotation given by Smt.AJ at 11:06am
DeleteThe clue online (IA) was "cat" not "cast" (as given by col.)
DeleteMy submission copy shows "Cast Iron', looks like the crossword editor let the cat swallow
Deletethe 's'
unable participate. btw, 8D - ENNEAD , too nice and challenging one. it was bit confused. Nine finally, I considered as (e). For the first time I understood DD for finally (in the end). Anyway, enjoyed all puzzles by Anon. Nice to see all threads. Thank you col.sir for your outstanding guidance.
