  16. a technical doubt though, is it a single grid or two grids side by side

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Technically you are correct the grid should not be blocked like this. Moreover there are unches in 8D and 10D which should be avoided

      Delete
    2. Col, can you elaborate on this? I'll try to keep this in mind for my next grids. Also, would it be possible to conduct some kind of workshops for amateur setters to know the basics and nuances of setting a crossword grid?

    3. This link gives how to construct a good grid. Thanks to Late CV sir and the blog owner.

    5. Very simplistic ally
      1. One should be able to travel from any light to any other light, through the lights.

      2. No two consecutive lights should be part of only one clue.
Like 8d (gre) form part of only one clue. Typically there should be an across clue starting at "r".

    6. Re: creating grids that follow the rules. If you use http://exet.app (my free open-source web app), it automatically creates grids that follow all normal rules. Just use "open -> new grid", picking any of the 4 chequered template starting points). It creates a random new grid every time. You can then use that grid manually or in any other software, or you can continue on to fill the grid and set clues within exet.

  18. Mathematical theme. Very interesting...some tough ones made it challenging. Driver ahoy! Well done..very enjoyable Sunday fare

  19. Today’s grid has a lot of Mathematics,
Sigma, Gauss, progression, pi, coaxial, multiplier, irrational, geometrical and more to come from the ones yet to be posted perhaps. Nice grid, I enjoyed.

  25. 6D is Tan- DD. Belt is one of the meanings of Tan.
25D- Aces- Excels is the def., but I can't make out 'untouched' (A.C.current?)

  31. This was my attempt at a themed grid with clues and answers relating to mathematics.
Product, progression, gauss, multiplier, irrational, graph, coaxial, geometrical, tan being the themed words.

Hope everyone had a good time solving the grid. Please let me know feedback on any clues and types of cluing. Will incorporate it in my next grid :)

  32. Please read up the link given by KRM at 13.42. You will have lot of inputs from it. barring this technical point, the themed grid was extremely nice and enjoyable.
