    1. I had ACE instantly on seeing the Col's comment. Yet, I am not sure how the anno pans out.

      VI V ACE V 0
Now, how do V and O go after A?

  5. OK OK I didn't notice the div symbol - the font being tiny and I being old with poor vision and not wearing my specs at home.Thanks. Bhavan, please give allowances to me!

    1. All good CV sir. I was half expecting that symbol to be botched during printing.

  6. Though I could see the divided sign, it took ages for me to get the ace and to contain V & O. But my doubt is how did Bhavan know that I am a 'No good solver'?!
As usual a multi word T nicely done- Buzzer spl.
    Enjoyed 11A as well.
    KK,

  11. Amateur question - what in 2D denotes that we have to pick 'n' and 'g' from 'no good'? Just getting my feet wet, so pardon the quality of the question ( if too silly!)

  12. In crossword clues, certain components may be derived from the expansions of well-known abbreviations. Here we get NG from 'no good' as the latter is a well-known, accepted expansion of an abbr. (Note: it may have other expansions as well, but we needn't bother about that now.) Note also that sometimes the whole expansion may not be given. We may be expected to get RA from 'academician' or 'artist' as RA is the title Royal Academician given to artists, musicians, et al. We pick up these conventions as we go along

    1. Thanks again. Is there a standard compilation of these like a quick reference or something? RA to Royal Academician is quite a stretch for me :D

  13. Could start on the puzzle only after dinner and managed to finish just now. Classy puzzle as usual.
One doubt: 5D Wordplay is hundred thousand, which should be TON-K right? How does it become K-TON?

    1. K in plan, ton

      In preparation, hundred thousand ... = in plan, ton k = plan(k)ton
